What is Waula?
It started with love. Two people sharing their love and commitment and expanding that to benefit the community. So we decided to throw a music festival to benefit our favorite local charity, now it’s the annual fundraiser for Sarah House!
Wade Cowper and Paula Phan long ago decided that a wedding wasn’t right for them, and they set out to find the right way to celebrate. A way to celebrate that would bring joy and friends together, but also serve a greater good. It was that initial thought that eventually became Waula Fest. After a successful year one that featured The Greyhounds, Crush Club and Spencer the Gardner, the party continues in 2024!
On Saturday May 25th at 5pm at El Presidio in Downtown Santa Barbara, join Wade, Paula and the entire Sarah House board to celebrate the vibrant culture of Santa Barbara and raise money for an incredible cause.
The Festival this year will feature food, full bar with craft cocktails, a plush VIP area for our sponsors and, of course, great music!

Sarah House provides a beautiful home and end-of-life care for people of low income. It continues its original mission by providing for men and women with HIV/AIDS. Additionally, it offers comfort and assistance to family and friends of its residents. It trusts that its work adds to the growing body of hospice wisdom. All of this is carried out with what is called “extraordinary kindness."
